What is Earn While You Learn?

Earn While You Learn (EWYL) is Next Step’s free education program available for women and men of all ages, including young adults. Individuals complete lessons on topics that interest them by watching videos and filling out accompanying questionnaires. In the process, clients earn boutique bucks: in-house currency for our Next Step boutique.

Next Step’s Earn While You Learn program is through Brightcourse, an entirely online and digital collection of lessons. Clients create their own unique Brightcourse profile through Next Step PRC, allowing client advocates to easily track which lessons have been completed and recommend content for the client based on their current circumstances. Clients then watch the lessons at our office and complete the appropriate questionnaires on provided tablets. Clients also have the option to watch content and complete lessons at home; speak to your client advocate to learn more!

Next Step PRC currently has over 300 different Earn While You Learn lessons available, in a broad range of topics including pregnancy, infant and toddler development, parenting and co-parenting, postpartum and emotional health, fatherhood and families, and life skills such as job preparation, budgeting, and healthy relationships.

Individuals may also earn boutique bucks by completing book reports, attending approved community classes, and participating in Grande Ronde Hospital’s birthing classes. Have an idea? Talk to your client advocate - the possibilities are endless!

We encourage expecting clients to bring the father of the baby when possible - couples can learn together and combine their boutique bucks for extra purchasing power! In addition, clients are always welcome to bring their support as well (although their boutique bucks can’t be combined) - Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Sister, Brother, or Friend. All clients can bring their children.
